Migrene, symptomer: Hodepinen

Hodepinen er det mest fremtredende ved migrene, og den skiller seg vanligvis fra andre typer hodepine på flere måter. Ofte begynner den vagt, for så å bli ensidig, pulserende, skarp og kraftig. Det kan føles som om hodepinen sprer seg mot nakken eller bak ørene. Enkelte opplever smerte i eller omkring øynene. Smerten forverres ved fysisk anstrengelse, som f. eks. trappegang.

Et mindretall av pasientene har tosidig hodepine, og barn med migrene har ofte tosidig smerte.  

Migrenehodepine kan være til stede når du våkner om morgenen, og bli verre utover dagen. Mange får økt hodepine ved fysisk aktivitet, og det er vanlig at lys og lyder er ubehagelig.

Mange opplever kvalme og oppkast under anfallene.

Som regel varer hodepineanfallene fra 4 til 72 timer.
