Nakkeprolaps: Symptomene

Studier viser at bare unntaksvis skyldes prolapset en ytre skade. De aller fleste tilfeller skyldes alders- og slitasjeforandringer.

Akutt start

Skiveprolapset kan oppstå i forbindelse med belastninger eller brå bevegelser. Vedkommende får ofte intense smerter nederst i nakken. Typisk vil smertene stråle ut i den ene armen.  Man vil også oppleve variasjon i smertene alt etter hodestilling. Noen vil også merke nedsatt følelse og redusert kraft i armen (såkalte nevrologiske utfall). Hvilke bevegelser som svekkes, og hvilke områder av armen som får nedsatt følesans, avhenger av hvilken mellomvirvelskive som er skadet (dvs. hvilken nerve prolapset trykker på).
