Akutt koronarsyndrom: Prognose

Akutt koronarsyndrom er en alvorlig tilstand hvor det er risiko for akutt hjerteinfarkt. Det er derfor viktig at diagnosen blir stilt tidlig slik at behandling kan starte i rett tid. Prognosen er avhengig av hvilken arterie som er trang, og av hvor utbredte forandringer som finnes i kransårene. Det er også økt risiko for komplikasjoner og død hos personer som på forhånd er svekket på grunn av høy alder eller sykdom, f. eks. pasienter med nyresvikt eller hjertesvikt.
