Bruskskader i hofteleddet: Prognose

Tilstanden utvikler seg vanligvis gradvis og skadene på leddbrusken kan tilta, noe som kan begrense pasientens evne til å trene og forårsaker smerter ved daglige aktiviteter. Særlig med tanke på smerter og funksjon er prognosen etter operasjon god. Dersom det er oppstått slitasjeforandringer i leddet, reduserer det sannsynligheten for et godt resultat. Omtrent 1 av 20 vil trenge ytterligere operasjoner, og noen av disse må bytte hofteledd.
