Skallethet hos menn

Skallethet rammer de fleste menn, men tidspunktet for når denne prosessen starter, og hvor raskt hårtapet utvikler seg, varierer.

Hva er skallethet?

Dette er den vanligste formen for hårtap, såkalt androgen alopesi. De aller fleste menn får denne typen hårtap, men tidspunktet når prosessen starter, varierer sterkt. Hos fem prosent starter hårtapet før 20 års alder. Det begynner vanligvis ved tinningene og noe senere over issen.

Tilstanden oppfattes som et normalfenomen og skyldes en arvelig bestemt økt følsomhet overfor mannlige kjønnshormoner (androgener) - nærmere bestemt dihydrotestosteron.
