Overarmsbrudd, øvre del: Prognose

Den avhenger av bruddmønstre, grad av feilstilling, alder og hvor vellykket opptreningen etter bruddet er. 4 av 5 brudd er lite feilstilte og har derfor rimelig god prognose, særlig hos yngre. Normal skulderfunksjon etter skaden oppnås ikke hos alle. Sluttfunksjonen avhenger av regelmessige egenøvelser og veiledet fysioterapi over mange uker, ofte flere måneder, noe som krever en motivert pasient. Erfaringen tilsier at dersom man ikke utfører egenøvelsene regelmessig vil dette ofte resultere i en stiv og iblant smertefull skulder. Komplikasjoner kan forverre prognosen.
