En kronisk neglebetennelse må behandles korrekt for at du skal slippe mye fremtidige plager. Det er viktig at du unngår stadig oppbløting av fingrene. For noen kan det bli aktuelt å skifte arbeid.

Kronisk neglerotsbetennelse blir langsomt bedre på behandling. Det kan ta mange uker til flere måneder før tilstanden går tilbake. I milde til moderate tilfeller trengs ofte opptil ti ukers behandling. I gjenstridige tilfeller kan fjerning av den tverrgående neglefolden og selve neglen, føre til dramatisk bedring.
