Plantar fasciitt, hælsmerter

Plantar fasciitt (plantar hælsmerte) er hælsmerter som stråler fremover foten. Dette er en betennelse i fotsålens bindevevsplate der den fester seg til hælbenet. Tilstanden gir smerter når du tråkker ned på hælen.

Hva er plantar fasciitt?

På undersiden av foten har vi en bindevevsplate som kalles plantarfascien. Den har utspring fra forkanten av hælbenet (kalkaneus) og brer seg i vifteform frem til tærne. Fascien sørger for optimal funksjon i foten i forbindelse med avviklingen av steget - hællanding, flat fot og fraspark. Plantar hælsmerte eller plantar fasciitt som tilstanden heter på fagspråket, er en tilstand hvor plantarfasciens feste til hælbenet er overbelastet og irritert.

Det antas at en vesentlig del av tilfellene med smerter under hælen kan tilskrives denne tilstanden. Den kan ramme mennesker i alle aldre, men plantar fasciitt er vanligst fra 40-årsalderen og oppover. Det er også en ganske vanlig tilstand blant idrettsutøvere (særlig løpere) og militærpersonnel.
