Panikkangst, hva skjer: Kroppens normale reaksjon på frykt og stress

Panikk eller frykt er en del av kroppens innebygde forsvarsverk. Det er følelser vi må ha. De kan redde livet ditt når du er i fare. Når du er i ferd med å krysse veien og en bil farer imot deg, er det frykten som får deg til å reagere hurtig og komme deg ut av veien. Frykt kan også gi deg ekstra kraft når du er nervøs og redd. Angst gir deg mer energi og kraft, men den får deg også til å ta raske avgjørelser. Det er ikke alltid lurt.

Når vi er redd, kan vi oppleve en rekke forskjellige symptomer. Reaksjoner på frykt kan påvirke mange deler av kroppen, både hjernen, resten av nervesystemet, hjertet, musklene og blodårene. Hjertet slår raskere, vi svetter og skjelver, og gir oss en følelse av å være uvell. 

Man trenger ikke få alle disse symptomene hver gang man er redd. Og symptomene kan variere. Disse reaksjonene er kroppens svar på angst, en opplevelse som kan strekke seg fra engstelse til absolutt panikk. Vi vet ikke akkurat hvordan du vil oppleve det å være redd eller nervøs. Det synes som om en del av hjernen reagerer på noe den oppfatter som farlig, og utløser reaksjoner i kroppen din.
