Posttraumatisk stresslidelse: Når blir PTSD diagnosen stilt?

For å sette diagnosen stilles krav til symptomvarighet over flere uker og tap av viktige funksjoner i dagliglivet (noen makter å opprettholde normal funksjon, men at dette krever betydelig ekstra innsats). Lettere og kortvarige reaksjoner på mindre påkjenninger som mindre ulykker eller en skilsmisse, kalles gjerne akutte belastningslidelser og er ikke det samme som posttraumatisk stresslidelse.
