Misofoni: Behandling
Det mangler gode vitenskapelige studier om hvordan man best behandler personer med misofoni.
Kognitiv atferdsterapi (KAT): Dette er den best dokumenterte behandlingsformen. Målet er å endre reaksjonsmønsteret på triggerlydene, for eksempel ved å lære teknikker for å håndtere ubehaget og utfordre negative tanker knyttet til lydene.
Lydterapi: Noen har nytte av å bruke enheter som lager en svak "motlyd» for å redusere eller maskere påvirkningen av triggerlydene. Dette benyttes helst i tillegg til annen behandling.
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT): En strukturert behandling som opprinnelig ble utviklet for tinnitusplager. Målet med TRT er å redusere de negative reaksjonene på triggerlyder gjennom en kombinasjon av veiledning og lydterapi.
Informasjon og kunnskap om tilstanden kan gi økt forståelse hos både den som er rammet og omgivelsene, noe som i seg selv kan bidra til å lindre plagene.
Helfo kan gi stønad til undersøkelse og behandling hos privatpraktiserende audiopedagog med avtale om direkte oppgjør med HELFO (etter folketrygdloven § 5-10). Les mer om villkår på helsenorge .
