Munnsvelgkreft (orofarynkskreft): Prognose
De tilfellene som oppdages tidlig, har bedre prognose enn de som oppdages sent.
Sjansen for å bli frisk av kreft i svelget har økt kraftig de siste årene. Dette henger sammen med årsaken til kreften: Kreftsvulster som skyldes HPV-viruset reagerer bedre på behandling enn de som ikke gjør det.

Statistikken viser nå at 5-års overlevelse ligger på 70–80 %.
Å få en kreftdiagnose vil for mange være en stor belastning både fysisk, mentalt og sosialt. Det er derfor viktig med god informasjon og oppfølging.
