Idrettsbrokk: Diagnosen

Diagnosen kan noen ganger være vanskelig å stille, men i typiske tilfeller hos toppidrettsutøvere kan diagnosen være enkel. Sykehistorien gir mistanke om diagnosen. Ved legeundersøkelsen vil legen forsøke å utelukke andre tilstander ved å undersøke bl.a. lysken og hoften din. Typisk provoseres smertene frem ved hosting og nysing, samt ved å sitte opp (gjøre "sit-ups" eller "crunches") og ved å klemme leggene sammen.

Det er viktig at legen utelukker at tilstanden skyldes skade i adduktormuskulaturen - de musklene som trekker lårene innover. Adduktorskader behandles best med fysioterapi, mens idrettsbrokk ofte må opereres.

Videre undersøkelse med ultralyd og MR er vanligvis ikke nødvendig, og vil vurderes av lege. Dersom legen er usikker på om det foreligger andre tilstander kan det være aktuelt å henvise til disse undersøkelsene.
