Hælbeinsbrudd: Diagnosen
Skaden skyldes vanligvis hopp eller fall fra stor høyde eller trafikkulykker. Ofte foreligger andre skader også. Etter skaden klarer ikke den skadede å trå eller gå på foten. Ved undersøkelsen foreligger betydelig hevelse i foten. Hælen er breddeforøket og foten har plattfot-form.

Røntgen tas rutinemessig og viser brudd. Ofte tas CT i tillegg fordi undersøkelsen gir sikrere opplysninger om eventuelle bruddskader i hælbeinets ledd. Også MR vil noen ganger være aktuelt.
Noen får stressbrudd i calcaneus. Ved mistanke om dette er røntgenundersøkelse nødvendig. Noen ganger er det også behov for MR bilder i tillegg.
